Director of Immigrant Health

As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), CCI’s mission is to deliver high-quality, accessible care to our community members, leading the way to a more equitable health care system for everyone. CCI Health Services:  

  • Has 7 health center sites in underserved communities throughout Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties serving over 37,000 patients.  

  • Oversees several federal, state, and county contracts and/or grants that focus on clinical operations, patient outcomes, and access to care and services.  

  • Provides health assessments for refugees, asylees, and special visa holders for the state of Maryland. The program currently sees around 2,100 patients on an annual basis. 

  • Provides care for all people regardless of identity, ability to pay, or immigration status. 

  

KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

60% Clinical/40% Administrative 

Option for 1 remote admin day after first 90 days.  

Administrative Responsibilities: 

  1. Provide clinical strategic leadership for the Refugee Health Assessment Program to ensure the delivery of high-quality, culturally competent care. 

  1. Co-lead the Immigrant Health Department and develop a pathway for RHA patients to seamlessly access primary care services at CCI.  

  1. Work closely with the RHA Program Manager to maintain and develop clinical operations and staff schedules for all clinicians and clinical support staff.  

  1. Collaborate with internal and external key stakeholders to develop and implement program policies, protocols, and procedures in alignment with state regulations, best practices, and CCI standards of care as well as workflows and standing orders.  

  1. Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary healthcare team, fostering positive and collaborative work.  

  1. Ensure accurate documentation of RHA program administrative requirements including accurate timesheets and clinician templates to ensure appropriate access for appointments. 

  1. Oversee and monitor the accessibility and quality of care provided by the RHA clinical teams, ensuring they are meeting both state and federal requirements.  

  1. Stay up to date with the latest advancements, best practices, and clinical guidelines in refugee health and integrate them into clinical practice. 

  1. May instruct medical students and/or residents in procedures, diagnoses, and treatment plans for refugee health. 

  1. Design and implement quality assurance and quality improvement work plans. 

  1. Perform quarterly chart audits and annual performance evaluations for RHA team members.  

  1. Monitor utilization including no-show rates, late cancels, and third-next available appointments.  

  1. May provide supervision for Physician Assistants and provide consultation to other providers at CCI.  

Clinical Responsibilities (0.6 FTE): 

  1. Provide high-quality, patient-centered primary care services to refugees and asylees of all ages, in the form of comprehensive medical examinations that screen for a wide range of infectious diseases and non-communicable diseases for each patient. 

  1. Collaborate with your multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans, ensuring continuity of care and appropriate referrals to specialists and primary care providers following the RHA visits are complete.  

  1. Educate and counsel patients and their families on preventive care, lifestyle modifications, and disease management strategies, tailored to their individual needs and circumstances. 

  1. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including regular chart audits, patient satisfaction surveys, and compliance with relevant healthcare regulations and standards, along with state-based requirements for data collection and reporting.  

  1. Actively contribute to a culturally diverse and inclusive work environment by fostering respect, understanding, and sensitivity towards patients and colleagues. 

  1. Complete all required documentation and lab review within CCI’s electronic health record within 48 hours of the patient visit.  

  1. Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer or designee.  

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • MD/DO/NP from an accredited program 

  • Board certification in Family Medicine or Med/Peds preferred. 

  • Valid and unrestricted medical license in the state of Maryland (CDS and DEA licenses). 

  • Current BLS certifications.  

  • Demonstrated 3+ years of clinical leadership experience.  

  • Excellent communication skills, including explaining medical concepts and treatment options to patients clearly and compassionately. 

  • Strong commitment to cultural humility, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive work environment. 

  • Knowledge of the structure of Federally Qualified Health Centers, a plus. 

  • Experience with electronic medical records required.   

  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in additional languages (i.e., Pashtu, Dari, Spanish, Haitian-Creole) is a plus.
